“I'm a first time mom to a now nineteen month boy.
Back when he was about a year old, his medical provider suggested I sleep train him because I said he was waking two, sometimes three, times a night.
(Honestly, it would have taken me longer to use the bathroom than to help him back to sleep!)
I was incredibly upset by the advice I was given, as I never complained that it was too many wakes, nor did I ask for advice on how to get him to sleep longer.
From the beginning, I've always followed his cues and let him lead the way; whether it was feeding him to sleep or being there in the middle of the night. I’ve always felt that he's only this little for so long, so why not give him the support he needs?
I also had a friend tell me I need to move him into his own room so as not to confuse him…. we still cosleeep and he sleeps great!
I hope other moms can drown out the noise and follow their gut.
A mom's gut is never wrong, especially when it comes to our babies.”
